Counselors from a university were overheard, by an LBCC student, complaining of the poor quality of transcripts received from LBCC.They complained they could hardly read it, i.e. print too small and too light.

LBCC Associate Registrar Lillian Justice said the issue the counselors are speaking about is due to the program used.

LBCC used PeopleSoft, which was purchased by Oracle, and it prints transcripts with a fainter 8.9 size font and it also prints more information on one page. The normal font is size 12.

Carolyn Veek, supervisor for undergraduate admissions at Cal State Dominquez, supports that.

She said, "I have no problems with LBCC transcripts except the print is really small, but LBCC uses the PeopleSoft program. Many colleges use that program now."

Cal State Fullerton Acting Supervisor of Applications Dept. Betsy Stuck stated per phone interview that she had a LBCC transcript in front of her.

She said, "The print could be darker, but other than that Long Beach is no worse than any other college. Most schools have gone to the tiny print."

Justice said, "I can think of a few colleges whose transcripts are not as good as ours."

She also assures students the transcripts are sent secured and on official paper.

Justice said, "At the moment, there is no way to correct it."

She also added some schools have assigned these issues to computer technicians to see if and what can be done

Justice said, "I am currently looking for a method to correct these problems and make the appearance of transcripts better.
