LBCC conducted a health fair at the LAC on Oct. 2 that offered blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol tests and booths to sign up to give blood. It also focused on promoting overall health for students. Free care packages with razors, deodorant, and tampons were given away for participating. The next health fair will be at the PCC Thursday Oct. 9 at the Student Health Center.

Despite students paying $14 every semester, the health services at LBCC are not widely used.

In part, the fee provides an unlimited amount of times you can see health services, which includes TB testing, hepatitis B and flu vaccines, glucose, cholesterol, urine, anemia testing, pregnancy tests, condoms, vision screenings, and blood pressure tests. The health professionals at the center also can refer you to a doctor.

Their staff includes a nurse practitioner, medical assistant, RNs and student workers considering working in medical fields.

Nurse Miriamme Palacios said she believes green information sheets located in the Student Health Centers should be given to students in their semester packets that include parking passes and information about ASB ID cards.

To make an appointment at the student health services center, call (562) 938-3992.
