After a slow start by both clubs, the Vikings got on the board first when sophomore Kaitlynn Estes zipped the ball past Antelope Valley goalie Esmeralda Preciado in minute 39, putting them up 1-0.
The Vikings defense made Estes' goal stand through stout defense and solid play through the remaining first half.
Head coach Alex Camargo said, "We did some good things during the game that I was happy with. We've got to get out of the box better once we step into conference play and have to contend with the likes of the stiff competition we'll be facing."
The score remained 1-0 until the second half when sophomore midfielder Mayra Carranza scored for the Vikings in minute 60.
Later in the second half, Viking midfielder Janna Mora missed a shot on goal in minute 76, but she quickly made amends the next minute when she scored putting them ahead 3-0.
Jimi Cassiani chipped in during the game's final minutes with a goal to close out the rout.
Freshman defender Angela Fornaseri said, "I saw some good things out there today and I'm excited about the season. We're going to be a well-rounded team on both sides of the field."
Despite the .500 start to the season, Camargo said that many of the team's struggles have benefited them.
He said, "Getting in shape and playing in the tough Ventura tournament will payoff as the season goes on. Aggression on both sides of the field are what I'll emphasize."
The Vikings are scheduled to play Southwestern on the road Saturday, Sept. 12 at 3 p.m.
