Join-A-Club Day on Aug. 28, at the LAC Quad, flourished as students gathered to join their friends and classmates at the club signups 11 a.m.

Clubs at LBCC offer something for almost everyone; whether one is looking for volunteer work, new interests, or just wanting to interact with fellow students. "I think it's great," Business major Thais Molon said. "It makes the whole school experience much more fun!" Registered students were offered free pizza and the chance to talk with staff and current club members about what the clubs were all about and the benefits of joining.

Many booths were set up by club members, and some of them were even decorated to show what they were all about and to attract possible members. The Medieval Society had a display table of armor, tools and other artifacts.

Members of the club even dressed up in medieval costumes to attract students to their booth. As a result, the group managed to draw quite a crowd. They seek to recreate the best parts of the Middle Ages, which includes increasing the awareness of honor.

Some clubs were successful signing up new members. The Humanitarian Club was building up supporters for its fundraiser to help Buddhadharma orphanage in Battambang, Cambodia. Club member Vanessa Pizarro said, "We're doing pretty well, trying to get as many people as we can."

Many members have been studying abroad and now hope to get the club going again this year. The club is striving to help support people all over the world and welcomes any ideas for new projects that will help them do so.

Another club that seemed to be popular was the Gaming Club. It originated by a group of student friends assembling in various spots on campus playing board games. Now it has formed into a club, welcoming new members to bring their own games to the table anything from board games to RPG (Role Playing Games), especially games that require more than two players.

"If you have a game, bring it, we'll play it." says Naaman Poingsett.

If students missed Join-a-Club Day, it's not too late to sign up for a club. More information about the clubs can be found on the school website under International Student Handbook http://intl.lbcc.edu/handbook.cfm or the Associated Student Body (ASB) web at http://asb.lbcc.edu.
