The LBCC Art gallery's reception for Failing Nature was on Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 7-8:30 p.m. and the exhibit continues through Sept. 26.

The K Building at the LAC has become an intriguing art sanctuary, offering creations by Kim Abeles, Eric Beltz, James Griffith and Naida Osline.

While taking a tour inside the art gallery, one can find artists at work, perfecting their masterpieces.

Jerry Vizcarra, a film major at LBCC, said, "The art speaks for itself and to me. I interpret it as showing fragments of 'mother nature' and environmental destruction by humans, knowingly or ignorantly taking ourselves eventually to our death."

In its third week of display, the art portrayed in the gallery is filled with symbolism that can be seen through canvas, inkjet prints, mixed media, sketches and sculptures.

Tiffany Joy, a student from the PCC, said, "The atmosphere is relaxed, along with images that read a thousand words.

We can finally commemorate the hard work done around us starting from the strand of grass to the highest tree shading us from the sun."

Students and the general public are welcome to enjoy the art exhibits, free of charge, according to the gallery director, Habib Kheradyar.

He said there would be a review of the art exhibits in the Long Beach Press-Telegram this Friday in the Weekend Section.

The emphasis of the art gallery revolves around Kheradyar's futuristic pondering, hoping to leave the audience perplexed with the artistic notions of pure confusion.

The art gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday-Wednesday 6-8pm, and Saturday 11 a.m.- 4 p.m.
