"The goal of the meetings throughout the semester is to go through the whole process of making a film, which includes pre-production, the actual filming and post-production which is the editing process," Apunte said.
The main purpose of the club is to get students involved and interested in film.
Public relations coordinator and film major Daniele Dohring said, "Film is a collaborative art and there is a diversity of skill needed, such as fashion, set designers, and makeup artists."
The organization's mascot is a symbol of continued growth in the industry.
It portrays the shadow of a woman holding a camera and invites a diversity of students to join.
"Not only does the symbol look great, it also encourages females to get involved because film has been known to be a male dominant field. Getting more females to join is also is a purpose and a goal," Apunte said.
The current growth and success of the F.A. is also contributed to the promoters who visit high schools and invite students to visit the campus and check out the Film Department.
Here, students are given the opportunity to listen to the many successful and professional screenwriters, cinematographers and directors who lecture about the film industry. Director David Zeiger, an anticipated guest speaker, is scheduled to speak on Sept. 23, along with a chance to attend a free movie screening.
The Film Association is open to everyone with experience and to those who have never picked up a camera. All that is required is the will to learn and succeed.
