The Interior Design Department presented an Interior Design Alumni Student Panel Discussion in the F Building at the LAC on Tuesday, Sept. 9, as part of Juliana Edlund's Interior Design Careers (ID 20) class.
The six panelists were former and current students who have successful careers in the industry.
The LBCC Art gallery's reception for Failing Nature was on Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 7-8:30 p.m. and the exhibit continues through Sept. 26.
The K Building at the LAC has become an intriguing art sanctuary, offering creations by Kim Abeles, Eric Beltz, James Griffith and Naida Osline.
A random survey of 100 LBCC students taken late in the Spring semester, revealed that 71 percent had used marijuana, while 24 percent admitted to using cocaine.
Of the marijuana users, 26 percent acknowledged still smoking it regularly.
"It seemed that a lot of the people I surveyed smoked pot," said Chris VanderMolen, one of the students conducting the survey.
The LBCC Film Association is one of the largest growing programs on campus and helps students acquire the skills necessary to produce movies. The F.A. meets every Tuesday at 5 p.m. in room D-237 and follows a carefully prepared curriculum established by group president and LBCC film major Damien Apunte.
Three years ago, Sherry Snodgrass, 36, returned to college enrolling at LBCC to focus on the interior design program. Today, she is a Designer Assistant for design firm HFSConcept4, Inc.
Snodgrass has been interested in interior design since high school.
Harmony and unity is the focus for the Reggae Festival scheduled for the PCC from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. The event has been organized with the intention of donating proceeds to Children Today, a Long Beach charity that provides care, moral values and the possibility of improving the lives of homeless kids in the city.
Long Beach natives, Last Day Standing, entertained students in the Quad, Thursday Aug. 21, as they performed a half-hour set of original music.
The band members, which includes two LBCC students, have been playing together for more than a year and take their roles as musicians very seriously.
After 16 successful years performing and producing original music, Chris Paul Overall is going back to school to pursue a degree in math at LBCC.
A native Texan, Overall, 33, is a Long Beach-based singer and songwriter who has won several Orange County Music Awards and acquired a devoted fan base.
The LBCC music department music provides students with the necessary tools to help towards a successful career.
"If you have a goal of becoming a musician and want to create music for the whole world to hear, enrolling in the Protools class is a good place to start," LBCC music student Ray Butler said.
