Graduate loves her magical event

Then I looked around for out-of-control children, but there weren't any, not even on the lawn where sandwiches, drinks and cookies were served after the event.

I'm not sure if public mention of the LA Lakers' basketball game that evening had anything to do with the length of our speaker's speeches but each was inspiring, profound and short.

The cheering, shouting and hollering were like music to my ears with magic in the air, especially after my name was read. I'm sure the same was true for all 500 of us.

All the energy of receiving our degrees, certificates and honors was again released through the loud, colorful burst of a fireworks presentation that ended our ceremony.

After the recessional march, I was able to greet and embrace my 10 relatives and friends who all said this was the best graduation each of them had ever attended.

I love and appreciate my friends as and for who they are and I am so grateful I can accept their experiences, advice and their opinions as theirs alone, not mine.

Maybe that's why we remain friends.
