The LBCC Filmmakers Association will sponsor its 2nd annual film festival Thursday, May 15, featuring 14 films made by LBCC students.
Festival director Damian Apunte said, "We will have LBCC students, high school students, film advocates, news personnel, professional filmmakers and the Long Beach community coming out."
The festival was created and organized by the LBCC Filmmakers Association to show the work of several film students throughout the year.
Apunte said, "The first president and founder of the association, Ericka Concha, started this film festival and she will be attending as well."
LBCC student Julie Hernandez said, "I'm really looking forward to this event. I was there last year for the first festival and I had a lot of fun."
The films being shown include "Dia De Los Muertos," "Stop Wasting Water," "The Maturation," "The Tennis Racket," "Edward Scissorhands 2," "Indiana Jones," "Primal Rap," "The Break," "Wrong Turn," "Trojan," "Shot Shot Down," "Odd Couple Kyle," "Bitter Sour Sweet," "Odd Couple Mariana, Redemption" and "Project Danger."
Association member Gary Alvarez will spin music before the festival and between films.
Films in the festival will compete for best movie, best screenplay, best director, best editor and best cinematography.
Alvarez said, "We will even offer popcorn and refreshments. The festival this year should be even better than last year."
The film festival will start at 7 p.m. in the LAC Black Box Theater.
