While Chenet made his preparations, the students first watched the film "Kodiak Salmon Summer" to better familiarize themselves with some of the ingredients to be used.
After the short film, students entered the kitchen and were greeted by a masked centerpiece.
Chenet removed the mask of the centerpiece and started the demonstration by cooking viakoda, otherwise known as a wild Alaskan salmon filet.
After that, Chenet went on to create another dish, the blanquette of Pacific halibut.
As Chenet poured an alcoholic ingredient onto the pan, flames violently danced on the pan, cooking the halibut.
During the final demonstration, student Marcus Lewis responded by saying, "It was cool to see someone professional. Maybe that can be me someday."
The demonstration ended with a question-and-answer session with Chenet.
Chenet is one of the many chefs from around the world who will participate in Cooking for Solutions 2008 at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California on Friday, May 16.
