I felt compelled to respond to the hateful and disgusting behavior chronicled by Viking staff writer Kallayan Thuch's "Sure, you can borrow a pen" commentary published May 1.

"Before every semester, I buy a separate pack of pens and pick my nose with every single one of them. This is reserved for the people who won't buy their own supplies."

Despite the obvious tackiness and potential health hazard the act poses to the LBCC community, the behavior is both disgusting and offensive.

As a former student and current employee at LBCC, I would suggest that if Ms. Thuch is so inconvenienced or bothered by fellow students "borrowing" school supplies, the simple and mature and adult answer is to say "no" to such requests.

The fact that she delights in openly discussing her repulsive practices only demonstrates an apparent character flaw so contrary to the values instilled in me during my time as a student at LBCC.

I can only wonder if in fact, LBCC is the same institution I remember attending.

Ew! I'm glad I missed this article.

I believe everyone in this world should be given a gold pen at birth with the URL of their message board etched onto it. (Continued…)

I didn't read that article, but i'm familiar with her style. It's not written to offend but i understand where that can be interpreted.

I read it, and I thought it was funny and cynical. Yea '95 was a long time ago. This isn't the same "institution" you attended Gabriel - It's better.

I do not like borrowing stuff from people. Many people put their pens in their mouth and the mouth contains lots of bad bacteria including herpes. Also you do not know what the person had in his mouth. (Continued…)
