Playoffs take center court
Vikings defeat Palomar, set to face Irvine Valley in volleyball.

In a rematch of last year's state final, LBCC's men's volleyball team will face Irvine Valley in the state semifinal, tonight at 8 p.m. at Irvine Valley's home gym.
In its prior match, the Vikes defeated Palomar, 30-23, 30-26, 28-30 and 30-28.
The win improved the Vikings' record to 14-4 overall and Irvine Valley is 16-2.
Irvine Valley is the 2008 Pacific Coast Conference champion, which automatically qualified the Lasers for the state semifinals.
During last year's final in Santa Monica, the Vikings back-to-back championship bid was spoiled at the hands of Irvine Valley.
Irvine Valley defeated the Vikings, 30-25, 27-30, 32-30, 16-30, and 15-13.
Chuck Chamberlain, LBCC's freshman setter, said, "I feel good about our chances. We already beat Golden West, I'm sure we can do it again."
Viking head coach Randy Totorp is optimistic about the team's chances.
"The team is healthy, we have no injuries, we're feeling good," Totorp said.
The playoffs are now in single-loss elimination. The winner will advance to the state semi-finals, which will be played on Thursday, April 24.
The state championship is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 at Irvine Valley College.
