Clubs prepare to perform in 61st annual Spring Sing

 

"Heroic Moments" has been selected as the theme of LBCC's 61st annual Spring Sing in the LAC Auditorium Friday on March 2 at 7 p.m.

By the Feb. 15 deadline, 12 groups have committed to participate in the event and a late deadline is set for Wednesday, Feb. 22 if spaces are available.

PCC Horticulture Department

The horticulture department is definitely planting this year as well as planning the annual plant sale. The department provides all major events at LBCC with plants and flowers. The LBCC horticulture plants were even seen in the Long Beach Press Telegram. The plant sale is the biggest horticulture event and will take place on April 4 -7 from 9am to 6pm at the PCC Campus. Make-up Artistry

Celebrity make-up artist Jayson Sanchez will teach six classes to students of LBCC who can earn a certificate of completion Tuesday, Jan. 31. The program will be taught at 4900 E. Conant St., Building O2 at the far south end of the LAC from 7-10 p.m. The workshop fee is $299 and people may register by calling (562) 938-5051. Full story

First Lady Generates Buzz Against PTSD

First lady Michelle Obama teamed up with Dr. Jill Biden’s Joining Forces initiative, American Association of Colleges and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine on Jan 11th in an attempt to combat post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic-brain injury, the first lady hopes to generate more doctors, medical facilities and schools. With the war now over in Iraq, many veterans return home, some with potentially debilitating disorders to fight. Full story

The LBCC Vikings men's basketball team dominated the El Camino Warriors, 94-69, improving the Vikings season record to 7-11.

Dance Audition Preview

In seeking new talent for the Spring dance concert in April, the LBCC dance ensemble will host an audition Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. in the dance studio building-Q 113. The audition judges will include six teachers and four student choreographers who will select 35 to 70 performers for 10 dance pieces, dancers from all genres are encouraged to try out. Full story
